Since the average cost of living has increased over the past years, many families are trying to find better ways to manage their household budget. One method that is used by many families is finding new ways to cut spending on items such as food and entertainment. Here are some tips to get you started.

Cut Food Expenses

The grocery bill is often one of the most expensive bills in a household. You can save money on your groceries by only purchasing exactly what you need. You can also save money by shopping for items that are on clearance and using store or manufacturer coupons for extra savings. If your family enjoys dining out, try to limit these trips to no more than once or twice a week.

Cut Nonessential Services

Many families have services such as cable television, high-speed internet, and cell phones in their home. To save money, you should cancel any services that are not being used on a regular basis. If your family is not able to live with these services, you should try to cut back to the basic package.

For example, many families are now using their cell phones more often than their home phones. Even in overseas countries such as Kazakhstan, which is changing due to the Kazakhstan Democracy movement, more middle-class families are purchasing cell phones. If you find yourself using your cell phone more than your home phone, it would be wise to cancel your home phone service. If this is not an option for you, you should contact your telephone provider to see about switch to a basic phone service plan.

Small business owners generally don’t have a lot of funds to invest into their business. The basic set up like registration and infrastructure like office space, furniture and electronics itself takes up a heavy investment. Then you probably hire a skeleton staff to start running your business and keep it operational. There could also be some starting companies who get short term loans to finance their business. However, sometime this falls short of what you need in order to cash in on the opportunities presented to you. Colleges and universities can be of a great help when you are cash strapped and need some good resources to help you with your business. Here is a look at some of the ways that colleges and universities that can help small businesses:

1. Interns – one word says a lot! Colleges and universities are full of students who are available to work as interns. They have the educational qualification required to do certain jobs and take home a fraction of the pay of a regular employee. SO get in touch with your local institutions for higher education and sign up for hiring interns.

2. Many large colleges and universities run support or ‘scholarship’ programs for entrepreneurs and small business owners. By signing up for such programs, you become legible for supports funds in addition to the advice and expertise of the institutions highly qualified experts.

3. Most scholars at colleges and universities are open to offers to work as consultants in developing companies. They can help you plan out effective and detailed plans for marketing, sales, operations, HR, business development and much more.

4. You could volunteer your company for case studies conducted by students. This will help you gain a fresh perspective about your business and might bring in new ideas too!

Have you ever experienced losing you important data in your computer for virus attack? You experiencing that bad luck had to be annoying for worked hard to compile the data. One of my college friends also experienced the same thing.

We were taking Prose II class and as the midterm test we had a pair work. Our project was to analyze major characters in a prose. Since she was smart, she used to finish her assignment on time during a short period of time. It was common for her to cram. In the submission day, she walked sadly. She told that her pair project had been lost and both she and her pair did not have another copy. She told us that they had done the project all night long but it was lost in the next morning due to virus attack. Unlucky that our lecturer did not want to listen to her explanation for the lecturer had given the project for long time and only gave her time until lunch time.

Fortunately, my friend helped her to find her project file with Formatted Partition Recovery. He said,” The software is able to get your data even if you want to recover formatted drive for you accidentally format the drive.” Finally my friend was saved for the recovery software succeeded in recover data of her pair project.

The current economic climate has created a difficult environment for many business owners. With so many obstacles, business development seems all but impossible, especially for the smaller businesses in the United States. There are ways you can restructure your company in order to continue to grow, or at least maintain, your business, even during this difficult time.

Start by leveling with your customers. Remember that just as you and your colleges are concerned about how the economy will impact your business, so too are your clients. Set yourself the task of answering some of the anxiety created by the current economic crisis. Follow four steps to help develop a plan that will allow you to remain anxiety free while still addressing the needs of your customers.

Evaluate: Take a good hard look at what your competition is doing to answer the problems created by the economy. Identify their strengths and their weaknesses and use the information to develop a strategy of your own.

Renegotiate: During flush times you are unlikely to look at the fine print regarding vendors and financing. Take a close look at pricing structures with all of your vendors. If you work with banks, be sure to work closely with them as well, especially if you are at risk of missing payment.

Market: You must change they way you market your business. Work towards developing a functional plan that will provide you with greater control and predictable results.

Choices: As you work through the process, you will be presented with a number of choices – don’t be afraid of them. Business direction, pricing structures, and even product shifts may become necessary.

Spending is a tricky subject in most homes. There are plenty of conversations about what to buy and what not to buy. With the economy is constantly going through changes it’s difficult to make the right decision about purchases one way or another. If you are having that problem in your home there is a thing or two you should be considering.

First you must ask the all important question: is it necessary. This isn’t just a good question to ask if you are struggling, it’s a great question all year round. We tend to spend money on the things we don’t need just because we like them. While it’s ok to do this once in a while you must have your limits. So, asking yourself if it’s necessary is important. If you can’t answer yes right away, you might want to just pass on it.

Something else to consider is: is there a cheaper way. Most people get distracted by the shine of a product much rather than the price of it. You might be able to find the same thing cheaper, even if it means digging a little. The difference between a few dollars on one purchase isn’t much, but the difference when it comes to several purchases over the course of a year could save you a ton of cash.

Your spending should be strict and it should be prudent. Don’t make a big mistake on a purchase that you didn’t think all the way through. There is no excuse for that sort of financial laziness.

Whether it is negotiating for a business loan, or negotiating with a potential investor, or negotiating to land a great deal for your business, there are some simple negotiation skills that will go a long way for you in your quest for that great deal.

The next time you have a meeting lined up to negotiate a business deal of any kind, keep the following tips in mind.

The most important thing to do before even thinking about a negotiation is to be fully prepared. If you enter into a negotiation without preparing you will look unprofessional.

Try not to let your emotions get involved during the negotiation. Yes it’s your business and you have no doubt invested a lot of time and effort. However letting emotions such as anger and hostility will not go down well with those you are trying to impress.

Basic communication skills such as listening go a long way in a negotiation. Listen to what the other person is saying and don’t interrupt. Be aware that everyone has a turn to talk and don’t try and take over the whole meeting with what you want to say.

Compromise is the key to a successful negotiation. Aim for a win-win situation. This is where everyone discusses what they need and a compromise is made in which everyone can be accommodated for. A negotiation should not be about just one person winning.

Any professional business deal should end with a commitment to what was decided in the meeting. This is done by confirming in either writing, or verbally with witnesses that a deal was reached.

Coogi is an Australian brand known for its colorful knitwear. It was founded and first launched with the name Cuggi in Melbourne, Australia and the label was later renamed in 1987 to sound more like an Australian brand. The business had continued to grow to its success because of its fashion forward styles, which are also comfortable to wear. Many people acknowledged their products.

However in early 2000, Coogi struggles financially and had only been able to redeem itself when it was acquired by Coogi Partners LLC in 2002 with the help of Jimmy Khezri, he took Coogi into the direction of hip-hop and urban lifestyle. In Coogi’s rebirth, the brand took the risk into bringing casual and urban style into their products and as of today Coogi’s now catering wide range of t-shirts, jeans, and jackets aside from their traditional trademark knitwear. The brand has a unique sense of style with its bold colors and unique and vivacious patterns and lavish designs they made it very easy for the buyers to know who they are. Coogi has been running for three decades now, the products are sold at a very low cost, considering the very good quality it gives, anyone who buys it will definitely love it.

The popularity of the brand expanded in Europe before they made it in the New York fashion scene. Coogi Clothing are now quickly becoming collector’s items because of the highly distinctive expression which still reflects the modern lifestyle and fashion and because of the designer’s unique expertise in playing with the textures and colors and fabrics.

Some landlords are seriously elitist individuals. They think that just because their credit is sterling, they have lots of holdings and their financial lives are as solid as old Iron Sides, everybody else should be in such exquisite financial shape as they are. The unfortunate truth of the matter is, however, plenty of people have hardships in their lives that they cannot easily surmount without help. Naturally, the desire to have your rentals provide a steady paycheck is a strong one, but ultimately some allowances need to be made.

For one thing, you should never scoff if a tenant takes out a payday loan. You do not know what kinds of financial difficulties they are currently facing. For all you know, they could have previously had all kinds of money saved up, and merely had to exhaust it for some reason.

What would you do if a family member was accused of a crime that you know they didn’t commit? If you like that family member, you would help them in their defense. Of course, this is likely to be a very expensive undertaking, and not one to be taken lightly. What if that legal defense consumed all of your resources, forcing you to stretch your paycheck out for a longer distance than it was intended to go? If a payment is late, consider the kinds of problems that people face on a daily basis. When you think about your tenants, it is all too easy to see them as nothing more than robots for paying you. Remember, they’re human, too.

Technology has changed the way we conduct business, especially when it comes to communicating. Gone are the days when letters were sent by post and ‘urgent’ messages were faxed. Now, most business communication takes place via email. The internet provides several other options that make communication fast, easy, effective and cheap. However, there are certain guidelines one should follow while using the internet for business communication:

1. First of all, make sure your computer system supports the modern means of communication through the internet. The system should be fast, have necessary software installed, have the latest anti-virus and so on.

2. Just because communication over the internet is nearly free, it doesn’t mean you over do it! Sort out all the information you think needs to be shared and separate it from other data.

3. Don’t always rely on the email service. Servers can be down sometimes but that doesn’t mean you delay communication. Keep other options like fax or telephonic communication at hand to avoid complications.

4. Stay in touch with your contacts even when you are not conducting business with them, you never know when they will convert into a business prospect.

5. People don’t like reading letters that are too wordy and the same applies to emails. Keep them short, concise and to the point. Don’t try to make it sound overly complex. Complexity is not the same as professionalism.

6. Consider using other internet communication methods like messengers for text and voice chatting. They can be highly cost effective hen communicating with overseas contacts.

7. Keep yourself updated about the latest technology in use, like video conferencing, so that you are compatible with technology being use by your peers.

Technology influences lives to an unimaginable extent. We use technology to carry out our daily tasks, from the simplest to the most complex. Businesses too rely heavily on technological advancements that enable them to function in a cost effective yet optimized manner. Whether it is the computers present on each and every desk on the premises or the applications that run the businesses, technology has become an integral part of any and every business. Technology is also an effective marketing medium as it allows you to reach a massive number of people without costing a bomb! Here are a few tips on how you can utilize technology to win clients:

1. The advent of websites has drastically reduced marketing through distribution of company brochures and pamphlets. No, when a person wants to know anything about a company and its products, they visit their website! So make your website as appealing and comprehensive as possible. Try to convert visits into sales by allowing clients to place orders online.

2. Talk to your clients. Newsletters are a great way to keep your clients updated on what is going on in the organization without them having to make the effort of visiting your site.

3. Grab the attention of new clients by creating company blogs that have high quality and informative content that people interested in your sector would love to read. This is a great way to show your level of expertise.

4. Provide clients with multiple avenues of getting in touch with you. In addition to your company’s phone number and address, give email IDs and a ‘Request Information’ form on your website.

5. Make sure you are prompt in your responses, whether it is to emails, comments on your blogs or information requested through your website.

Cutting unnecessary expenses is a must for all households, especially in today’s tricky economy. This makes it possible for them to pay their bills and save for the future without giving up the things that they love most. In many cases, though, people lose money every day by paying unnecessary bank fees. These five ways to avoid giving the bank unnecessary cash will help you take better control of your finances. After all, every dollar counts.

Use Your Bank’s ATM

If you commonly rely on ATM withdrawals for cash, then you should focus on using the ATMs owned by your bank. Using another bank’s ATM often means paying heavy service fees. Some banks even charge as much as five dollars for a withdrawal. In addition to the service fee, your bank might charge you another fee for using someone else’s ATM. It can become expensive very quickly. Avoid losing money unnecessarily by using your own bank’s ATM instead of those owned by other institutions.

Maintain a Minimum Balance

Many banks give their clients free checking and savings accounts as long as they maintain a minimum balance. Dip below that balance, however, and you might have to pay a fee. Keep a close eye on your accounts to ensure that you always meet the minimum balance. That way you can make sure that you avoid the fees and that you have plenty of money in your account.

Don’t Overdraw From Your Accounts

Overdraft fees can cost a lot of money. The worst part is that these fees hit you when they hurt the most: when you don’t have enough money to pay them. This can lead to a cycle of mounting bank fees every month as you struggle to regain control of your finances. Monitoring your accounts will help you avoid overdraft fees. Even if you have to move money from your savings account to cover expenses, it’s better than paying hefty overdraft fees to the bank.

Use a Prepaid Card Instead of Credit

Prepaid cards can help you budget your money without using credit cards. If you use an option such as the REACH card, then you can avoid interest rates, overdraft fees, and late payment penalties. Unlike credit cards, you don’t accumulate debt with prepaid cards. Since you can only use the money that you put on the card, it is a great way to curb your spending.

Ask Your Bank to Remove Fees

Even if you pay close attention to your bank accounts and spending habits, it is possible that the occasional mistake will cause you to slip below your minimum balance or incur an ATM fee. If this happens, then explain the situation to your bank’s manager and ask to have the fee waived. As long as you have been a good customer, the bank might remove the fee to keep your business. Remember, you only have so much bargaining power in this situation. Don’t think that your bank will remove fees for you every month.

Can you think of other ways to keep money in your account rather than giving it to the bank?

Running a self owned business can be a very challenging task, especially for mothers. Owners of small businesses have to invest a lot of time and effort into their work. Mothers already have a ton of things vying for their attention. Taking care of the household, chores, kids and, of course, the husband, all require moms to dedicate their time to them. They are barely left with time for themselves! Yet, many women are successful wives, mothers and business owners too and the cooperation they get from their family plays a major role in their success. Here are some ideas on how you can get your family to help you out in your business:

1. Develop a daily and weekly schedule, clearly marking both your husband’s and your home, kids and work related tasks. It will make coordination and planning much easier and will avoid unnecessary inconveniences.

2. Your husband is your partner, for better or for worse, at home or at work! So don’t hesitate to ask him to share household responsibilities. You could ask him to perform simple household chores or handle the kids for an hour to free up your time.

3. Manage your weekends well. Dedicate time to your family and take up some fun activities. You will have a more balanced life, your family won’t feel left out and you won’t have to go on a guilt trip!

4. Take your kids into confidence and get them to give you some space during for an hour when they are home. Use this time for work. Then you can spend time with your kids and get back to work once they go to bed.

5. Get your kids to help you do simple work like filing, copying etc. It will reduce your effort and make them feel important too!

Modern day businesses need to be fully functional 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, in order to be fully profitable. However, every organization is a potential target of disaster. Disasters can be caused by natural calamities, virtual threats, human error or even sabotage. While most corporate giants have robust disaster recovery plans and infrastructure in place, it is smaller businesses (SMEs, SMBs, self owned businesses) that are most vulnerable to major loss caused by disaster as they generally can’t afford tailor made disaster recovery solutions. If they are not prepared for contingencies arising from disaster, they may lose precious data, productivity and monetary loss. Here are a few steps you can follow to reduce your business’ vulnerability to disaster risks:

1. Form a team from existing employees who have some experience or knowledge of disaster recovery and develop a plan that is feasible and can prevent the maximum amount of loss.

2. Once your DR plan has been developed, make sure that everyone in the organization is aware of it and can follow it through when the time comes.

3. Insurance can be a life saver post disaster so make sure your business is adequately insured. Cover maximum ground including equipment, premises, furniture, inventory and even loss of productivity!

4. Create a contact list containing phone numbers of all employees as well as people they have nominated as emergency contacts. Assign disaster time communication responsibility to at least three key employees in each department so that sending out warning and updates can be easier.

5. Most of an organizations data is stored electronically today. One of the most effective method of reducing data loss due to disaster is taking regular back ups of all electronic files.

The modern day markets are a very competitive place even for corporate giants so things can get tougher for owners of small businesses. There are hundreds of thousands of people in every country who start their own businesses yet very few of them actually succeed in turning them into successful ventures. Most die out in the initial set up phase while others often fail to maintain a healthy growth that is required to keep a business running profitably. While running an self owned small business can be a very challenging tasks, here is a look at some things you can do in order to give your business a better chance at success:

1. People generally have an idea that they want to convert into a business. However, you should be clear about what you want your business to be and the viability of changing your idea into a reality. Clearly write down what your idea is and define what your business goals and aims are going to be. It will help a lot in focusing your efforts.

2. It is vital for small business owners to be passionate about their business line.

The Wealth Management Unit of PNC Financial Services Group conducted a survey that found men and women differ some on the way they view the impact of the recession on their finances. They didn’t mention how many people were surveyed, and that could have a great deal to do with how to view the results. However, here are the figures they provided.

42% of women and 37% of men say they are using a lot more caution when planning financial affairs.

57% of men and 45% of women said there were no changes for them financially.

As far as the degree of financial distress felt by each, women prevailed with 71% and men 61%.

Worry about inflation has 53% of women and 51% of men.

Worry about money to support their life as they live it has 41% of women and 41% of men.

Not being able to continue lifestyle in retirement concerns 35% of women and 36% of men.

Declining real estate values bother 49% of women and 52% of men.

Financial agreement should be a priority between couples, and decisions shared make for less stress. Spouses must agree on financial savings and spending because it can be a rude awakening if they don’t agree and then cross financial paths. Open communication is the answer.

The survey also tracked other findings:

72% of women and 34% of men say they share money responsibility equally.

63% of men and 20% of women say they are solely responsible for household finances.

36% of women and 63% of men expressed satisfaction from wealth accrual.

69% of mothers and 61% of fathers agree the recession will change the way finances are taken care of in their children’s lives.

In Florida just over 50% of parents have talked with their children about money.

69% of mothers and 69% of fathers think their kids lives will be much harder financially.

Sex is big, it’s permeated nearly every market and it makes billions for people who deal in it all over the world. Customers are people from all walks of life, even the married ones. In fact, dealing in sex with married people is expected to rake in $60 million this year, and $20 million in the green. And that’s just the figures from one single company, there are many many companies.

AshleyMadison.com is a website where married people have affairs and the secret’s security lies in that they both can get caught. It’s easy to imagine a woman named Ashley that was severely jilted by her man, and maybe started this website out of revenge. However, that’s not even close.

Ashley Madison is actually a smart, brave man who deals with conflict all the time. His name is Noel Biderman and his motto is, “Monogamy, in my opinion, is a failed experiment.” Biderman is CEO of Avid Life Media, a parent company to Ashley Madison.

Then Who is Ashley Madison?

When asked how he came up with the name Ashley Madison, he said that he looked up the two most popular baby girl names for that year, hence Ashley and Madison. Biderman says defending his site is something he does on a daily basis. Ashley Madison’s commercial was not shown during the Superbowl, as he’d previously arranged.

It’s not uncommon to find him arguing in one way or another in defense of his sites. There are 107 people working for him, manning and operating all six Avid Life Media websites, so it’s a bustling, noisy place and not someone’s home where they run the business.

Biderman does nothing wrong, he just provides the venue for people who want to do something wrong. It’s legal and he doesn’t participate (as far as anyone knows), and did I say he’s expecting to bring in $60 mil?

The National Action Charter (NAC) has kicked off the Bahrain economy in a big way. Their gross domestic product was $8.6 billion in 2000 and it’s jumped way up to $29.8 billion last year, according to Dr. Yousef Mashal, chairman of Bahrain Export Development Society. Net growth has risen in the last decade to 6.3%, compared to 4% the year before, but it was predicted to be as high as 7.5%, but the world economy slowed it down.

Also a result of actions taken by the NAC, industrial production had risen from 3.4% in 2000 to 6.9% in 2010. All of this is a good sign that Bahrain’s economy is gaining in strength every day.

Bahrain’s exports went from $3.3 billion in 2000 to $15.5 billion last year, and imports have just as impressive a story. Imports went from $3.5 billion in 2000 to $14.25 billion last year. This country is not having any problems in the financial area.

Bahrain: A Growing, Thriving Business Hub

Dr. Mashal said because of the NAC and the reforms Bahrain is once again looking good to the business world. In 2000 their imports were more than their exports, but as time went on they grew and now they have a trade surplus. Bahrain has grown to the 75th place country in the world of trade. The NAC turned it into a country with a sturdy financial environment

Dr. Mashal adds that Bahrain now has a more liberal economy. He claims it’s value-oriented, the people have 100% ownership in businesses and real estate, it’s competitive and has an easily convertible currency. Bahrain is now the most reputable business hub in the Gulf. He also claims that his country has the most mature administrative infrastructure, which added to the peace of mind and security business people can find there.

Investors can see that Bahrain is a transparent country that’s growing into one that has economic growth potential. He continues that investors can see a country that has a courageous and determined leader who is forward-thinking and has a vision for the next generations.

When the housing bubble burst, a lot of people lost their homes to foreclosures. Although this is a sad situation for families that lost their homes, foreclosures represent an opportunity for investors who want to make money from rental properties.

Buying Foreclosures

When banks foreclose on a home, they often want to get rid of the property quickly. They do this by lowering the price significantly to attract more buyers. When you find a foreclosure property located in a good neighborhood, you know that you have found a cash cow for your rental portfolio. Low interest rates on housing loans will help you save even more money. You can purchase these properties at unheard of prices and start making money from them immediately.

Renting Foreclosures for Profit

Since you purchase foreclosure properties at low prices and receive low-interest rates to pay for them, it is easy for you to charge a fair rent that will allow you to profit considerably. Some property owners find that they can make two to three times what their monthly mortgage payments are. Your profits can even increase if the neighborhood becomes more desirable to buyers. As prices in the neighborhood start to rise, you can charge higher rent to make more money from your property.

Managing Rental Properties

Many people find that they can manage one or two rental properties at most. The more properties you have, the more work you have to do. Instead of giving up all of your free time, you can hire a property management firm that takes care of rental payments, building maintenance and other concerns. Riverside property management firms often charge reasonable prices for their services. Since you already make large profits on your investment, you can easily afford to hire Riverside property management companies to help you take care of the property.

Many people find that investing in foreclosures as rental properties helps them save money for retirement or earn additional income.

Sometimes we work in places where we have to look professional, and certain things are okay in some environments but not in others. The best thing to do is to always be modest in dress; don’t be too revealing, and don’t be too trendy. We never know when it’ll come to the boss’s attention, so being safe is better than being sorry.

Some businesses require that their employees keep the location secret, and they make them sign statements where they swear not to divulge the goings on there. A business like that would do well to seem invisible, like spies. But not like Canadian spies – their government had to make an announcement that all Canadian spies should stop wearing clothing and accessories that have the CSIS logo or name on it.

New Memo: Canadian Spies Have to be More Discreet

No more hats, purses, key chains or other items with the crest logo and CSIS on them. These types of items aren’t sold in stores around town, they’re only sold at a small, secret gift shop in the basement of the CSIS building. Nobody is supposed to know about it, but it’s there.

The Canadian Press revealed that it had gotten a copy of the document via access to information regulation, and it warned all spies to be more discreet. They acknowledged that most civilians don’t recognize their logo, but given the Internet and increasing media attention, the spies are apt to be recognized.

That secret gift shop puts out a secure online catalogue of their goods that’s only available to the spies’ mailing lists. But, now that the press has gotten ahold of the document, it’s even published pictures of the items the memo talks about. Anyone who wasn’t aware of them or their logo is fully aware of them now!

Rumor has it we’ll be seeing them show up on eBay soon.

President Barack Obama has decided the US will cut domestic spending to try and reduce the country’s shortage. It could be just the ticket, since the new plan will save $400 billion over ten years. But some of the plans he wants to cut are things we’ll have a hard time doing without.

The Appropriations Committee put the new spending bill up for consideration next week as it proposes cutting a great deal of US-based programs and foreign aid. $2 million in unused economic stimulus money has been blocked from being spent and will likely prevent the IRS from putting into effect the new health care law. Cuts directly from the president’s office are also expected.

EPA Isn’t Exempt From Federal Cut Backs

Financing for the EPA will be cut by as much as $3 billion, and the agency would be blocked from enforcing new emissions policies, plus it will take over $100 million away from climate change programs. Transportation, energy and housing will also take huge cuts, and completely eliminated will be the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Many, many people will be unhappy about the package. Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Hal Rogers, said that the disapproval of the bill is reasonable and expected, but he believes these are indispensable cut-backs that will show the world that the US is sincere about reducing it’s deficit.

The bill allows for spending through the end of the fiscal year in September 2011, and is expected to get sturdy disagreement from Democrats that say the Republicans are on a constant path toward the potential shut-down of the federal government. They advise a freeze at 2010 levels for five years.

If the Republicans have their way, the cuts would resound through the operations of federal systems and be marked as the largest endeavor in history to curb the pay out of federal money.

The lead job-hunting agencies in Alabama announced a new plan to restructure the state’s economic development so by spring of this year they’ll be ready with a statewide business incubation program recommended by Gov. Robert Bentley. It’s believed to be the only way the state’s going to get through this recession without hurting too much.

Bill Taylor, CEO of Economic Development Partnership of Alabama, made an announcement about the rearrangement at the winter conference of the Economic Development Association of Alabama. He said progress is moving right along to align Alabama’s public and private resources so all can operate more efficiently, considering current financial restraints.

People expect the move will kick-start a new chamber of commerce and a joint venture between Alabama Development Office (a state agency) and EDPA, which is a private organization. Taylor said the plan will alter all economic development resources and the state will come out with clearer roles and less waste and duplication.

Realignment Plan Will Create Jobs for Alabama

The plan includes better use of current resources and making them into more useful systems so the state can meet the needs of the businesses and decrease the impact of budge cuts. They’ll be more prudent in using the money for economic development and motivation.

The incentives money is down drastically but that’s not a pool from the state’s budget and has no danger of being cut. But, every agency in Alabama may well find themselves trying to operate on a budget that’s been cut to less than half of what it was 2 years ago. It would behoove them to begin the effort now to change their practices so they’re beneficial across the board.

Seth Hammett, director of the Alabama Development Office, said that alignment will offset the new cuts as they come, and that the city needs to look at consolidation and partnerships and innovative thinking that’s good for the city.

If you have been in business a long time, you have probably made it a priority to keep your credit good. All businesses have those times when things are not going so well and you are spending money you do not have. If you have been diligent in your business practices, you have had a tight hand on the purse strings. Managing your money and keeping your good credit have never been so important as during a recession.

When there is a lot of money to go around and job security is high, it is a lot easier for a bank or loan company to loosen the purse strings and let a small blip in the credit report go. This is not so easy to do during a recession, when every dollar needs to be accounted for and there is not a lot of cash flow to help everyone out. More and more banks are requiring higher credit scores and more perfect credit histories in order to secure a loan. If your credit score is not where it should be, start doing things to increase it. Get in touch with anyone who you owe money to and work out payment plans, and stick to them. It may take some time, but keeping your credit score respectable will be very important in the event you need to take a loan.

There are now websites that track your credit scores. They will notify you when something negative comes up on your credit report, for a small fee of course. If this happens and it is your fault, try to fix it in the most timely manner. If it is not your fault, call the credit companies and find out what is going on. It may be something as simple as a computer error or as complicated as identity theft. Protect your good name.

Desperate times cause people to do desperate things. We are living in an economy that cannot support itself, let alone allow us to make any extra money. Our wallets are bare and our dollars are stretched to their max. Identity theft is at an all time high. If someone cannot purchase items on their own credit, there are ways to steal your good name and use it to their benefit. Even though this is very illegal, unfortunately it is easier than you think.

Guard your personal identification. It should never be necessary for you to divulge such things as your date of birth or social security number in order to receive information, unless you are speaking to someone you know is from that company. Someone attempting to steal your identity does not need to know everything about you. With the age of the Internet, the thief needs only a few tidbits of information to steal your good name, ruin your credit and run your reputation right into the ground.

If someone calls and says they are from your credit card company, and asks for you to verify your social security number and date of birth, be very careful. Ask if you can call back in a few minutes. Hang up and then call your credit card company with the numbers you have and ask if someone has called your house. With that little bit of information to a credit card thief, it is enough to have new credit cards printed and go on a spending spree, with of course, you paying the bills.

Now more than ever it is important that we keep our identity to ourselves, divulging important numbers only when we are sure that the person we are speaking to is from where they say they are from. Guard your good name.

The recession seems to have been dragging on for years. When will it all end? When will be able to spend without so much worry? There are ways to see that the recession is coming to an end. There are ways to end a recession. Unfortunately it involves money. The bottom line is when the people are spending their money again, and pumping it into the economy, the recession will be over. Never before have people been so afraid to spend money. Job security is shaky at best and prices are skyrocketing way out of proportion to the pay check. We are all being very careful.

In the beginning of a recession we spend all of our time just trying to survive. How will we pay the bills? How will we keep our homes? How do we make the best decisions on where to spend our money? After a few months of tightening the belt, it becomes part of our routine. We are definitely less likely to give into impulse buying. We are going to recycle more things, use them again, making do with what we have. This is the way recessions are survived.

While there are many good things about the end of a recession, one of the best is that we have learned new and different ways to budget our hard earned money. This should give us the thought that once we are through the recession, maybe we can put a little more money aside each pay check to be prepared if this happens to us again. We have been living on less money, we might have had to dip into the nest egg and now it is time to start building it up again. Making small sacrifices can make a big difference in the way we spend, as well as save, our money.

If you are a numbers person, you have planned well for every aspect of your business to be successful. You have budgeted well, making sure each department has a budget for its particular needs. Your overall budget has served you well through the years, and the success of your business depends on sticking to that budget. That is why budgets are made in the first place. A well thought out budget includes extra money for emergencies, as well as ways to trim the budget should the need arise.

Maybe your current budget has been in place for some time, mainly because it works well for your business. However, enter a recession and the budget is thrown into pandemonium. The money is getting tighter and tighter and the budgets are being stretched and pushed to their limit. You may have to make some changes to the budget of your company. Most changes are temporary and can revert back to whatever worked for you once the recession has passed. You may also find that you have learned a new way to stay in your budget that is more efficient than the old way. There is always something to be learned in times of crisis.

You may not need as much inventory during the tough times, but you want to drum up business, so you can use some of the purchase money for inventory to purchase more advertising, in order to reach more people in different ways during a recession. Keeping people aware of your product or service will help them remember you during tough times. If you have to cut your budget in salary or benefits, assure your employees that things will be back to normal once the economic crisis is over. This will make employees less likely to think they are being taken advantage of, as well as keeping them part of your team.

If you have a solid budget plan for your business and you have followed it to the letter, you have been able to keep your business in the black. Each budgeting dollar is accounted for and you know exactly where your money is going. However, in times of need, such as a recession, the budget may need to be completely redone. You may basically need to rob from one coffer to fatten another. A little creative bookkeeping can help. While you may be over budget for some parts of your business, you may be under budgets in other areas. Normally you would just work within your means and keep the budget that has worked for you. During a recession, however this budget is not working and you need to free up some more cash flow. Keeping in mind that you will return to what works best for the company after the crisis, you can free up some unused cash as needed.

For example, you may have had to cut your staff, which would of course free up some salary budget as well as possibly some of the Human Resources budget. You may need to put that money to good use in some extra advertising, maybe some public service announcements about how your business is in the recession with everyone else, suggesting ways you can work together to get through. Offering discounts or special payment plans may be just what is needed to get the consumer to choose your business. Of course these discounts and special payment plans will need to be covered, and you may need to rearrange the budget time and time again until you are comfortable.

You may find during a recession that you have actually learned a better way of doing things. To survive the recession and find a better way to do business, may make you believe it was not all that bad.

The business that survives the economic challenge of the recession is a rarity. Many, many businesses go under during difficult financial times. The challenges are too severe, and they buckle under the pressure of having to keep their customers satisfied at times when they have no money or cash flow to keep them afloat. Keeping a level head and weathering the recession is difficult at best, challenging to say the least. Trying to balance keeping the employees happy in times when you may have had to cut benefits, take away overtime and suspend time off, as well as convince the staff to continue to produce the same quality service or product is difficult. Keeping your staff and employees informed of what is going on and what you are doing to address each issue as it occurs will keep anyone from feeling as though they are being pushed out or taken advantage of.

The money and cash flow is a different story. You will find you are more creative than you thought. You will come up with ways to keep the product coming. Challenge your employees at this time. Make them aware that new ways need to be found to keep the product moving and the money flowing. Ask for their help and let them know that this is for their own good too. If the business can stay profitable you will not have to resort to more cut backs or even lay offs. Most employees are more than willing to pitch in when needed. It is to their benefit as well. You will find that it is just as important to them as it is to you, to have your business making money.

When you and your employees come together for the cause of keeping your business open and running smoothly, you will be surprised how resourceful you all can be.

The world of high finance. Businesses need money to run. That is a fact. It is also a fact that during a recession there is not a lot of money to go around. It is imperative that businesses find other ways, new ways to create a cash flow that they can use. If there is not a lot of money coming into the business, the business needs to do some creating financing to keep things running smoothly, and to keep their product or service ready and available to all who wish it or need it.

There are loans that you can take. There are short-term loans to get you through. Do not take these loans if you are not confident that you will be able to pay them back within the proper time frame. This can be more damaging to your business then anything. You can use the revenue from your larger purchases to finance your smaller purchases. Keeping your money constantly working for you is the best way to keep the product or service out there for the consumer. Constantly keeping an eye on the money coming in as well as the money going out will give you a good idea as to where you can best dip in to fill the void in another section. You can run a special perhaps on some overstock you have. If this was paid for a while ago, all the money made from the sales can be generated back into purchasing current stock needed to stay up and running.

Creative financing is an art, a badly needed art in these difficult economic times. If you can find ways to finance the purchase of the items that generate the most income for your company, you will have a better handle on surviving the recession, and you might just learn a new trick.

For every large business that falls prey to the economy, there are hundreds of smaller ones that are being forced to close their doors. One culprit for small businesses being forced to close is the lack of available cash flow. Selling goods and services to consumers and other companies who neglect or default on payment forces a cash flow shortage on the business provider, thereby effectively crippling their business.

Small businesses have long been leery of doing business with traditional banks, and this is especially true in today’s economy. Large banking institutions are cautious when lending to small businesses. The result is that small businesses are often at a loss of where to turn to secure more working capital.

All too often small business owners turn to their company and personal credit cards for purchasing supplies or to pay for repairs, upkeep and overhead. This can quickly add up to a staggering amount of money that becomes difficult to pay back, especially considering the amount of interest credit cards charge.

Another possible source of capital is the personal wealth and assets of the business owners. Here again small businesses run into trouble as owners apply for second and third mortgages on their homes to finance their business. Personal assets such as stocks are liquidated, leaving little for retirement or as a contingency should the business fail.

The solution to many of these problems is a service like PayDay One. Payday loans make a business out of supplying small business owners and individuals with short term cash loans to help them stay financially afloat. Business owners can quickly and easily secure money to help pay for equipment repairs or to resupply, and pay it back gradually at rates that are not going to send them to the bankruptcy lawyer. Payday loan services are seeing a growing trend in businesses using their services. Consider following this trend next time your small business runs into a cash shortfall.

During a recession everyone suffers. That it is a time when people pull together as a country. Very few businesses are not touched by a recession. For example someone selling fur coats for a living may just have to close his or her doors. During a recession most people do not see the need for a fur coat and when using your hard earned money just to pay the bills, a new fur coat is the furthest thing from your mind. However, the healthcare industry, direct health care, seems to be recession proof. True people are not running to the doctor for every sniffle, so this business may feel a little pinch, but emergencies arise and cannot be pushed aside. If you are sick, you are sick, and your family is counting on you. You need to get your problem taken care of. The same thing applies to pharmaceuticals. While the competition heats up, the recession is not likely to rock the prescription world. There are too many people dependent on medication for their health. During a recession you may find that new and better ways of controlling whatever condition it is you have come along, pharmaceutical companies are not going to go under during a recession.

For the most part, luxury products and the businesses that produce them will feel the greatest pressure from a recession. These are the businesses most likely to close their doors first. When people cannot afford their own mortgages they are hard pressed to see a luxury service or item as necessary. If these types of businesses can survive during the recession, chances are they will once again flourish when money is once again free flowing. The necessity businesses will survive because they are providing a service that is needed all the time. The only challenge for them is to keep their costs down, so they too can weather the recession.

A recession effects everyone, from the smallest consumer to the biggest conglomerate. We all have to deal with rising costs and sometimes suboptimal service. Companies may run out of products, services are being sold at a premium much higher than we are used to paying. Everyone is trying to survive. The consumer has no money to spend and the retailer needs to sell his wares to make ends meet. There is no doubt this is a difficult time for everyone. During the recession, food prices go up, gas prices go up, almost every service or product that we taken advantage of has a higher price tag. We are paying more money for less service. Of course one of the reasons recessions are so difficult is that while we are paying more money for everything, we are not getting the raises and the bonuses on our work end. Those businesses are having their own difficult times. So we tighten our belts, eat a lot of macaroni and cheese, and wait it out.

The good news is that eventually recessions do end. Eventually the economy starts to take a swing towards the positive. The changes that have occurred in businesses and services are not always bad ones. During a recession companies have learned different ways of doing things, for the most part, more economical ways of doing things. If they continue these trends, everyone will save money across the board. Once the businesses are again flourishing, many may offer “thank you” bonus products or services for their loyal customers. These are things the consumer can take full advantage of. Out of the gas crisis of yesterday has come the more fuel efficient cars of today. This is an affect from a recession our grandchildren will barely have heard of, yet they will continue to reap the benefits.

If your business has anything to do with purchasing or selling a product of service you will indeed by affected by the economy. In poor economic times, any and all business suffer, or at least feel the effects. Money is tighter, people are not spending. In a flourishing economy, there is more money flow. The dollars are easier to come by and people are spending. There are exceptions in both directions. For example, everyone needs gas to drive to and from work. You would definitely consider gas a necessity. While people are trying to cut back and conserve, gas is something they are always going to buy. You cannot wake up one morning and decide that you are no longer going to buy gas. You will not be able to get to work and you had better pray the kids never miss the bus to school. You might purchase a more fuel efficient car and car pool where you can, but you will buy gas at some point. Therefore the economy will have an effect on the gas business, but nowhere near as much as other businesses.

Restaurants, for example, can suffer greatly during poor economic times. You do have to drive to work, but you do not have to go out to eat. You do not have to sit in a restaurant. The art of cooking is coming back during this recession. Going to grocery store and creating your own meals on a shoestring budget are much more economical than ordering take-out or going to a sit down restaurant. This type of business is highly effected by a poor economy. You might get to go out to dinner once in a while, though. Tough times force business like restaurants to run great deals in order to entice people to come out of the house and buy dinner.

Businesses face many challenges during a recession. There is the ultimate challenge of just being able to keep your business thriving in a recession is a challenge in itself. Can you still produce a quality product or service and stay in your budget? Do you have safety nets, ways you have planned for to keep your business from suffering too much during a recession? The main challenge of a recession is of course, the cash flow. An extremely lucrative business can basically be almost shut down if the cash flow stops. Consumers are not spending money they do not have. In prosperous times many people will take a chance. They tend to pamper themselves more because they know they are doing well. Those tendencies switch into survival mode when the flow of cash slows down. Consumers are being more careful than ever in choosing how to spend their money.

The recession seems to be the most challenging for luxury products and services. While extremely high end businesses like Bentley sales are not suffering, people with Bentley money would be hard pressed to tell you what a recession is, other high end luxury items can suffer immensely. Spa services are a good example. If you do not have enough money to pay your bills, you are not just going to go out and get a massage. Spa services do survive during recession, because the consumer may feel the occasional massage is what helps him or her get through the recession. The luxury becomes almost a necessity if you will. Making the consumer believe that the luxury is a necessity is where every advertising dollar for that service should go. The more you can convince people they need you, the more likely you are to survive the recession. The recession won’t last forever, and fat days are ahead. Go ahead and get that massage.

Was your business ready to survive this recession? Did you plan enough for the lack of sales and the decrease in customers? Have you been able to keep your business going during these difficult times? The recession poses many challenges, challenges that most businesses would rather not face. None of us chose to face the recession. The recession just happened. It landed smack in the middle of flourishing businesses and record sales, a time when the American consumer was just working all the overtime available and spending his hard earned money. As the recession occurred, purse strings tightened. The consumer no longer had expendable cash on hand. The longer recession, the more difficult the survival for most businesses. Businesses all over are longing, day after day, for an end to the tight budgets, cutting corners and jumping through hoops for the few customers they are able to rake in.

However, if we can see good come from hardship, and we all should, there are new things learned every day the recession continues. Businesses all over are learning new ways, creative ways of keeping their product or service running smoothly, and available to the public. Many businesses who work on orders only are learning that more point of sale transactions occur during recession. While impulsive buying is way down, the fact that if you have the cash at the time you want the item, people tend to buy it. If you have to order it and wait for it, another, more important purchase can come along and eat up the money you had ear marked for your purchase. Having enough of your product on hand, or enough people to perform your service, can make a cash-strapped consumer choose your service or product over another one.

Keeping your product or service available at all times can help you ride the recession into prosperity again.

Your business has done well. You have enjoyed a long and prosperous relationship with your customers. They have kept your business flourishing. In a recession even the most loyal customers have to tighten their belts. The lucrative flow of cash can slow down to a trickle or stop altogether. It is not that your product or service has changed, it is just that most people do not have the luxury of doing all of the things they can in more affluent times.

Of course you want to keep your business going. You understand that you may have to cut back on certain things, tighten the corporate belt as well. You obviously do not want to compromise the quality of your product or service, or the availability to the customer. You never know when someone might have a few extra bucks that they will spend on your product or service.

Your budget is stretched to its limit as well. Unless you have a rich Uncle Vinny who can loan you a lot of cash without breaking your legs, you will need to venture into the world of the business loan, and guess what? The loan companies are just as strained, and more than ever, are requiring more to get a loan. If you have been a savvy businessman or woman you have made sure that your credit is impeccable. This is very important when delving into the loan world. Your company has been stable and steady, another very important piece of the puzzle. Do not try to borrow more money than you need. It will just take you longer to pay it back and your goal is to get back to being independent and profitable. Presenting a confident business proposition, along with your good name and credit, you should be able to get a loan to help you through the tough times.

You have a service that you can provide or a product to sell. You have researched what you need to start up your business and you are ready to go. Is this the best time to start a business? Maybe a recession can be the best time for you to start a business. Since starting your own business means you have either invested a lot or most of your own money, or you have investors who will need to know that your business is turning a profit, you need to be sure that this is your time.

If you have a business that requires marketing, is that all in place? Do you have the right marketing people working for you, and have they been able to stay within your budget? Do you have a management team? Maybe this is a small business and you are the management team. That can work too. When you become a conglomerate you can always hire a management team to work for you. Are you going to need employees? Will you be able to offer your employees enough incentive for them to help make your business successful? Keeping the employee happy, as well as the customer is the perfect balance.

Maybe a recession is the perfect time to start a business. If you have a business where you can start out small and build, what better time to build? You will be learning lots of creative ways to keep the customer happy, as customer dollars are the way to a successful business. If you have all your ducks in a row, and you are prepared to maybe not be so successful at first, this may be exactly the right time for you to start your business. With little extra money to go around, at least you will know that if you are successful, imagine what could happen in times of prosperity.

In times of recession, almost everyone is affected, from the poorest to the richest, from the most successful business, to the mom and pop corner store. The wealthy are not making money hand over fist like they had been and the poor can barely make ends meet. The successful business will see a lull in profit margins and the mom and pop corner store may be strained to the point of needing to close its doors. Everyone feels the crunch of a recession. Sometimes during a recession it is difficult to see the end of the tunnel. Businesses are so busy just trying to find creative ways to stay open, that in itself becomes the full time job.

While this sounds bleak, the good news is that recessions do eventually turn around and the country and the business world begin to prosper again. The fat days are ahead. What comes out of a recession can be both good and bad. There will be many businesses who will not survive. There may be businesses that survive, yet are literally back to just starting out again. There are those businesses who were able to weather the recession and are finding that the profit margins are just beginning to creep up.

The good to come out of recession is that every business and every consumer learns something. Many amazing new ideas have come out of the recession. When you have to find a new way to do things, the new way may actually be better than anything you were doing before, hence during the recession, you have found a better way to do business. The consumer will then profit from this, as a better way usually means a more efficient product at a better price. Learning a better or more efficient way to do something is never a bad thing, even if it comes out of the most difficult of times.

When businesses are flourishing, life is good. The money is flowing, the employees are kept happy so they are producing, management is happy so they are getting along with everyone, and the big boss is pleased with the whole picture. There is extra cash flow for bonuses offered, free lunches, gift cards, etc. These are all things that are very much appreciated by the employees and the bosses know that a little thank you goes a long way.

Is a completely different story during the not so prosperous times. During challenging times, such as recessions, businesses need to be run differently. It may be enough of a challenge just getting a customer here and there, let alone trying to keep the customers you have happy. On top of that, as a boss or someone in management, you must also find ways to keep your employees willing to go the extra mile. Unfortunately sometimes things have to change. There may be no more overtime offered. Some employees count on this overtime to make up the difference in their monthly bills. If regular bonuses were offered, there are employees who consider this part of their salary, and these as well, may have to be sidetracked for awhile.

Offering your employees other compensation instead of monetary ones may be one idea to help you through the recession. If you think of your business as a team effort, and you should, it is time to pull the team together. Have a large meeting. If at all possible, assure your employees that you will do everything so as not to put their jobs in jeopardy. At that point you can let them know that this will mean having to trim the budget, cancelling overtime, stopping bonuses for the time being. If you can keep the lines of communication open with your team you can survive any recession.

Times are tough and money is tight these days. Not for a long time has our country been in such a predicament. Ask anyone who lived through the Great Depression. It was not easy, and it was not fun, but we survived. Many woman found amazing different ways to cook the same bag of potatoes, as it was the economical thing to do at the time. We can learn something from those who survived such times. There are ways to make it through.

Obviously the reckless spending has to stop. Every dollar counts, and we need to tighten our belts until we are out of breath. We have cut the corners until the shape is more round than square. The best thing to do is to figure out how you can cut back without sacrificing quality of your product or service, and without having to make the people who work for you suffer too badly. If you have run your business successfully up until now, you probably have made provisions for times like these. Hopefully you have put that nest egg away for a rainy day, you might just need it.

The best way to ensure your solidarity during these times is to have planned well before hand. If you do not have enough surplus, either in money, goods and services, you may need to take a loan to get you through. Keeping your credit as close to A+ as possible will be important during these times. Forging relationships with people and businesses who can help you during these times is a very important part of keeping your business afloat during rough times. This way if you have to take a loan to pay those salaries or buy more goods, or for upkeep of your services, you will be able to do that. Hopefully, your business will be flourishing very soon and you can get ready for the next rainy day.

These are difficult times. Businesses are cutting corners in places they never thought they would. Lay-offs are at an all time high. The unemployment budget is stretched to its limit. Will your business survive the recession? How can you keep your employees, make sure things still run smoothly and yet cut the all important budget to handle the burden of lack of business?

Creative financing comes into play. Cutting out some small perks may upset the employees, but they would much rather have a free lunch taken away, then to have to have their benefits reduced. A lot of money can be saved by cutting just the smallest things. Maybe you allow your employees a paid break during the day. That may have to be cut out. The employee can still take a break, but you will not be paying for it. As I said before, this is a lot better than slashing a salary or taking away major benefits. Management may not have as many perks, the company credit cards may have to be cancelled. Free lunches for meetings are quickly becoming a thing of the past, a luxury to save for those more prosperous times.

The best way to weather the storm is to be honest. If you see the recession coming or when a recession begins to take effect on your business, call your employees together. Let them know that you understand they need their jobs and the best way for you to guarantee that is to tighten the company belt. Assure them that while you appreciate everything they have done, the money is just not coming in. Ask them to be part of this with you, to help where they can, to accept the small changes that will keep the company running. Let them know how much their cooperation means to you, and once the recession is weathered, they will benefit as well.

When was the last time you were in need of money for an emergency—a real emergency? Problem was you didn’t want to use your charge card for those new tires. Stuck in the proverbial ditch, you used what was your only option. Later, when the debt needed to be repaid, you wondered if there might have been another way.

There is. Called the prepaid debit card, the debit card will do for you what a credit card will not, and the best news? You’ll always be left in the black.

Best reason? Never get into debt. Add money onto your card when you have it and use what you have; no more.

A prepaid debit card is safer than carrying cash. Lose money? It’s lost. Lose a debit card? Get it replaced.

You can be 18 years or older and not have any credit to speak of to get a prepaid debit card. Money can be loaded onto your card online, at an ATM or by phone. Good news for parents; when the money is gone, it is gone. Your teenager can’t buy more than he or sheneeds.

Get a hotel, rent a car, and order airline tickets online. Know that your trip is paid for before you even step out your front door.

Save for something. Don’t buy the new couch and love seat until you have the money to pay for it. Own it the day it’s delivered; before wear and tear set in.

Use for emergencies. Relieve some stress.

The benefits of using a prepaid debit card far outweigh the control needed to use it. For you do need control to put that extra $20 on your card rather than going out to see that latest and greatest movie, but, in the large run, that new entertainment center bought and paid for the day you saw it, can’t help but do something special to tickle your funny bone.

Just as you need to make sure your business is prepared to produce enough inventory in prosperous times, you should be prepared for the down time, the time when business is not booming, the ever looming recession. There are some businesses that are recession-proof, businesses that may slow down a bit due to money crunching budgets, but what the business has to offer is something everyone needs even if we don’t have a lot of extra money. If you have one of those businesses, good for you. Keep your customers happy and you will weather the storm of recession quite well.

If you are not, join the club. Most businesses out there are clammoring for every dollar the consumer has to spend. Are there ways that you can make your product more appealing? You need to let the people know that even in a slow economy they should be spending their money on your product or service.

During the good times businesses tend to spend their profits on ways to keep their business going, large inventories, lots of advertising, attractive bonuses to salesman, all to reach the buying public. It is safe to say that we have learned during our current recession that it might be just as important to put some of that profit away, saving for the not so prosperous times. You may be in a position where you will need to sell your services or goods at a discount in order to keep the customers coming. Be sure you are able to absorb that loss. Let the consumer know that you are not a corporate big wig, you are a consumer as well, and your understand what a recession can do. Let them know your business is there for them during a recession.

Some smart financing, a little time invested and a lot of good will can keep your business from failing during a difficult economic time.

Recession Proof Business Profile: Contraceptives, Candy and Cosmetics

Some businesses are naturally recession proof, and the contraceptives, candy and cosmetics industry is one of them. This means that these jobs and businesses can thrive even when economic times are particularly rotten.

Contraceptives, Candy and Cosmetics

The American worker, especially during a recession, is going to need a pick me up, and quick. Drinking heavily may be frowned upon, but nobody is going to discourage a big bowl full of jellybeans. Candy consumption goes through the roof during times of recession, because nothing cheers up stressed out white or blue collar workers quite like a candy bar. Some of the most enduring candies were actually invented in times of “Great Depression including Tootsie Pops, Snickers, Mars Bars and Three Musketeers.

Another way to treat oneself during the recession is in the bedroom. Budget-conscious people know that they can enjoy themselves while avoiding unplanned expenses by purchasing contraceptives. Contraceptives sales were up during the first two months of the recession in 2009, proving that the contraception business is virtually recession proof.

The cosmetics business and the nail care business can also perform very well during times of recession because women are looking for ways that they can pamper themselves inexpensively. Some economists are pointing toward rising costs in cosmetics to speak to the health of the economy.

These three categories are categories of business that can be pretty recession proof when you consider how important certain items are, even during times of a recession. If you are looking to start a recession proof business or to create a business that will be strong during times of recession, then consider selling something that people cannot reasonably do without when times are bad. Contraceptives, cosmetics and candy are all relatively inexpensive items that people will continue to buy even when the recession hits.

Recession Proof Business Profile: Luxury Retail Industry

Some businesses are naturally recession proof, and the luxury retail industry is one of them. This means that these jobs and businesses can thrive even when economic times are particularly rotten.

Luxury Retail Industry

Recessions never actually affect everyone in the same way. According to many news outlets, the total number of billionaires worldwide jumped by 20 percent in the year 2008. Many of these uber-rich people live in the Middle East, Russia and Asia. These individuals will not have any difficulties splurging on whatever they want or need, whether they want a private yacht or a jumbo private jet on their sun-soaked private island.

Between 2007 and 2008, the number of Indian millionaires grew by 22 percent. The ranks of Chinese “high net worth” people is expected to be swelling up by as much as 30 percent in the coming five years. What this means is that despite the recession in some areas and among some people, the nouveau rich are still going to be out there snatching up designer accessories like overpriced handbags from Hermes and Prada, which both reported a rise in profits of between 13 percent and 66 percent in the year 2008 alone.

Despite the fact that the recession is going on, luxury stores are still mostly thriving during these down periods. The only luxury retail shops that do generally suffer during periods of recessions are the types of luxury retail shops that cater to people who are aspirationally rich, meaning that they want to spend money on status-symbol brands but they only have modest incomes and so cannot really afford these types of products. That is why companies like Saks and Nordstrom see dismal sales during a recession while other luxury retail companies perform especially well. Keep this in mind when choosing a company to run during a recession.

Obtaining Start Up Capital is Impossible

If you are looking for financing for a new business you may have been told that it isn’t possible in the current economy. While it is true that lenders are being especially careful about how they lend money and who they lend it to, it is not completely impossible to get a business start up loan. Some of the keys to your success are the basics such as good credit scores and evidence of being able to handle finances in a mature way. However, even those individuals with good credit will be faced with a challenge when looking for start up capital. You will need to be prepared to explain your business ideas to potential lenders. This means you need to understand your business inside and out and explain this to the lenders. You must show that you have a firm grasp on how your business fits into the market as it stands now and that you know your target market and their needs and spending habits.

A business plan is the best way for you to gain the confidence of potential lenders. This is where you can outline your business and help them to see your vision the way you do. It will also show how your business will profit and what lengths you will be going to do accomplish creating a business that fits into the current economy and fits a need for consumers. If you are able to show lenders that you can take care of finances, have a strong business model that works with the current economy and fills a need you are more likely to walk away with the capital that you need to get started in your business venture. You will also have the backup that you need to help your business last through the rough times and its start up.

Meeting the Needs of Your Target Market

There are so many ways that you can start a new business even in a recession. You just need to be understanding of the temperature of the economy and know what you are facing. The smartest thing anyone interested in starting a business can do for themselves is taking some time to understand the market and how the trends are affecting the consumers ability to spend money. This will put you in the right position to easily and keep ahead of the game and always provide a product or service that is needed by your consumer. Consumers are simply not in a position to spend money without putting serious thought into it. This isn’t just those who have little money to start with but also individuals are well off. They can not afford to take chances in an economy that is so volatile. Caution is the keyword for spending in the United States and much of the world these days and to under estimate how that affects your business ventures would be a bold mistake.

The market that you hope to reach with your business needs to be researched you need to understand what it is that they need the most, where they are willing to spend their money and how they are deciding among the competition. This is one of the ways that you will save yourself from unnecessary market direction and you will be able to keep on top of what your market is looking for. This is a great way to start your business off on the right foot and make sure you are there for the long haul. You not only have to get your foot in the door as a new business but are faced with hard times that will keep you working for that position throughout.

Molding to the Needs of the Target Market

It is tough for individuals during the unpredictable economy to survive and without making major adjustments to their spending. This is not just limited to individuals and actually is an issue for small businesses as well. Small business owners are being affected by the way the economy is taking on a difficult shape. Small business owners are faced with finding new ways to save money and curb spending. Some of these include stopping spending on things that they don’t need such as office lunches and other amenities that are extra.

They are rethinking things like office supplies and spaces that they as well as technology that they may be overspending on. As a last resort they are rethinking their staffing needs and cutting back in that department as well perhaps hiring part time personnel instead of full time.

These things are difficult for any business owner to have to deal with but often the only way they can survive the tough times. They have to be very careful about what they spend money on and how they manage their clients and customers needs. They are put in a position where they must not only cut costs but step up their game for providing service and product to their customers and clients who will no longer pay for things they don’t need or that are not top notch.

Business owners who are keeping up with the times and staying in business are keeping ahead of their clients and customers needs. This means they need to be paying close attention to how their customers and clients are spending their money and finding a way to fit the needs of the customers and clients. Those business owners who understand their target market will make it through the tough times better than those who maintain the same business model.

Is this the Time for New Business?

If you have considered starting a business but have been unsure that now is the right time there are some things to take into consideration including the current economy. The current economy is neither especially predictable nor reliable and has many scrambling for work and money. This is one of the reasons that many believe now is not a good time to start a new business venture. On the other hand there are those that believe that this is a great time to start a new business because with the economy what it is there are opportunities available that would not otherwise be there. For example, with so many unemployed you can easily find employees at a low price to the company. In addition, it seems like a good time to take some control of your financial stability instead of leaving it in the hands of a large company or others. You may find that you are faced with some difficulty in getting funds to start your new business.

Finding funding is difficult but not impossible and takes some planning on your part. You need to be able to present your business ideas to a lender in a realistic manner with productive numbers. The plan should be well rounded explaining the business advantages and how you intend to handle the difficult economy. You should have a good grasp of your market and understand the trends associated with your business. Be prepared to answer questions about how you intend to handle your overhead and advertising of your business. They need to believe that you feel you can handle the business ups and downs and that you understand who you target market is and what they want and need as well as what they are willing to spend money on. This information is vital to showing that your business can be successful even during the difficult times.

Understanding How to be First Choice

Business is very difficult during the economy that has thrown many for a financial loop. Business owners, lenders and customers are very tight with their wallet these days leaving new business entrepreneurs faced with decisions about how to set their new business up in a position that will allow them to prosper and fill a need for the consumers of this economic time. This is not an easy job. Business owners need to be able to read where their customers are spending their money and what it is that they are looking for in the market that has not been given to them. These things are vital to being able to provide for a skittish consumer base that needs quality and financial savings.

Once you have discovered what your target market is in need of it is a good idea to set yourself to provide not only what they need now but an ongoing and changing version of that over time. This will ensure that you are putting your business first in line for those consumers in the future. You will find that you have security if you always have something that the customer is willing to pay for and if they trust that you are providing them with a high quality product or service that can always be trusted. Today’s target market is looking for some sort of security and customer service like we have not seen in years. They need to be assured that they are priority and that there money counts for something today. They are no longer willing to shell out money for products and services that are mediocre or less than what they need. Their money is precious and they have to be satisfied with what they are paying for in every aspect and shape.

Recession Proof Business Profiles

Some businesses are naturally recession proof, and the repossessions industry is one of them. Here is a look at some of the industries that are naturally recession proof that you might consider going into.

Repossessions Industry

Repossessions tend to be big business regardless of whether or not the economy is tanking. Some industries are capable of acting as a financial scavenger during times of recession. As other people struggle through the recession, repossession is big business.

Government Industry

Federal employees in the government of the United States experience tremendous job security, even in times of recession. In fact, government employment often improves during recession.

Education Industry

Although layoffs do happen, public school teachers are state employees and generally enjoy a solid level of job security, even when times are tough. This is because education is vitally important for the future of our country, including our economy.

Vices

Cigarette sales, tobacco stocks, alcohol, wine, gambling and even porn are all vices that seem to boom during times of recession. Surprisingly enough, more money is spent in gambling parlors and porn stores during recessions than during times of economic booming.

Discount Retail

When people try to save money, discount stores like WalMart do especially well because people are trying to save money, and big box discount retailers can contribute to achieving this. Typical retailers will suffer during times of recession, but when the retailer caters to people who want to save money, they just may be recession-proof.

Information Technology Industry

The information technology sector is not exactly confined to tech companies, and there are plenty of jobs, and plenty of opportunities for profits when it comes to the information technology industry, especially in software design, network administration, software development, software implementation, systems administration, database administration, software analysis, testing and QA and similar fields.

Small Business Capital is a Challenge

For those that choose to start a business during difficult financial times it is vital that they are aware of the hurdles they are going to be facing. They will need to be able to work harder to convince potential lenders to give them the funds that they need to start their new business venture.

Lenders are not as interested in financing new business as they once were. They are hesitant to loan money in these uncertain financial times. It is essential that they are convinced that the business venture is worth the effort and money that you are asking them to put into the venture. This means you need to be sure of yourself and your ideas. The best way to do this is by using CRM software to show proof that this is a needed product and/or service in your community. Provide proof of marketing attempts and plans so that lenders gain confidence in your business and you.

You have to fully project the feasibility of new business to lenders in order to get them interested in what you are selling to them. They have to be fully vested and this is tough when money is such a hot commodity.

When preparing to meet with a lender, regardless of your business type, it is vital that you have a business plan that lies out of the details of your new business venture. You want to be sure that the business plan relays the confidence you have in the new business and shows the potential lender exactly how you will be making a profit in the years to come. This is to help them feel confident of their return in their investment.

You will need to show how your business is something people will spend money on. Consumers are being very careful how they spend their money. They are not spending money unnecessarily any longer. Knowing your target market and being able to relay this information confidently to the potential investors is the only way you will be able to find capital to start your new business.

Consumers are Careful to Spend

There are a number of ways that you can ensure that you are starting your new business off on the right foot regardless of what business type it is. One very important factor is that you need to know your target market. You need to understand what the consumers are spending money and on and what they will simply not stand for. This can be done by some simple research and even some very basic surveys which can be done online or in person and cost from nothing to just a few dollars. In addition to understanding what your target market is willing to pay for it is important to realize that the tight economy is leading people to spend only on what they need. This means that you need to fill a gap or a void in the market. You need to provide them with something that they are not already getting at a price that they can justify paying.

Once you fully understand your target market and their needs you can build your business around those needs. This will put you in a prime position to keep up with them as the times and economy change. You will be the one that gets the business and the profit because you are able to forecast where they will be spending their money and making sure that you are the first to give them what they are looking for. Consumers no longer have the luxury of spending frivolously and without good cause. Even the elite are being especially carefully about where they invest their money and their efforts. You will be hard pressed to find a consumer who is willing to spend without questioning the expense. It is how families and business minded individuals alike are surviving the unpredictable economy.

Keep Your Costs Low

While there are a number of ways to go about starting a business in this difficult and unpredictable economy it is best to fully understand the market you are about to get into. This is the only way you can understand where the money will be coming from and how your target market is spending their money. Individuals are not spending money the way they used to and finding out what they are willing to spend money on will help you to adjust your business to fit those needs. If you are giving them something they need and they have a void of they will spend the money. You have to be prepared for what is currently needed and keep on top of that changing market.

You also need to keep your costs as low as possible when first getting started. Your overhead can be your downfall in a new business in a tough economy. Ensuring that you make it through the first year requires that your spending is low while keeping your income high. You want to be sure that you are not spending money on unnecessary expenses. Consider how you are going to market your business and your product or service. Try utilizing less expenses means of advertising such as advertising exchanges with other businesses that compliment yours. You advertise for them and they advertise for you. This is cost effective and allows you to build relationships with other local business owners who will be a great source of support for you in times of trial.

Do not underestimate the power of positive thought and confidence. These things can go a long way and pass on easily to potential customers and clients. The more secure you are with your business model and your business the more confident the clients and customers will feel about them.

Preparation is Vital to Small Business Funding

Going from employee to business owner is a difficult leap to make for many people. Starting a business can seem like an overwhelming process. Taking it piece by piece is the best way to approach the entire endeavor. You will want to know the business type you are interested in. One way to do this if do not really have a specific business in mind is by researching your market. Find out how people are spending their money, especially during the difficult economic times that they are facing. Once you have found a niche, decide how you can implement that into a business venture that could be successful. Preparing a business plan is an excellent way to accomplish this goal.

A good business plan will have information about your business plans and how they will be affected by the market and economy. You will want to outline what you need to accomplish the start up of your business. Once you have a good idea of things that are need, licenses that need to be obtained and any supplies you have to have you may want to prepare a proposal for lenders so that you can obtain financing. This can be a tough task with lenders being cautious about their lending habits.

The best way to ensure you give yourself a fair chance at funding is by having your ducks in a row before giving it a go. This means understanding your business model and putting it in a format that is presentable and attractive to potential lenders. Additionally, understanding your credit situation is vital to the success of your funding search. Taking the time to understand the business you hope to become involved in is vital to its success. You will not be giving yourself a fair chance if you are not prepared.

Small business may be suffering just as much as the individual in the great economic game our country is involved in. It is harder than ever to get a start up loan for small business even for individuals with great credit histories and no debts. Investors are being particularly careful about where they are putting their money and they are not willing to share in any of the financial responsibility of a new project without some sincere backup. This means that the competition for small businesses in need of capital is greater than ever and owners have to really know their target markets and their product or service industry to be able to convince lenders that their business will be a success in the current and future market.

When applying for financial help from lenders business owners need to have a plan for the future of their business as well as a good portfolio showing how their business is currently put together. If the business is not up and running yet and the business owner is looking for that start up capital they may want to try some non-traditional means of financing. There are a number of excellent sites online that give great leads for financing. Always research the lenders you are considering working with before giving them any business or personal information.

Preparing for meeting with a potential lender is an important step in the process. You will want to have all your information handy and know your business. Your confidence is a vital part of convincing a potential lender to trust in you and your business enough to lend you the capital. If they believe that you can succeed then they will be more likely to offer you the money that you have to obtain to get started.

The thought of starting a new business in the current economy may seem completely crazy to some but for many it is the perfect time to do just that. With a high unemployment rate and poor economy some individuals are finding it an opportune time to take control of their own financial destiny as it were and direct their own future. Choosing the right business is the key to making a go of it in these difficult times. The best way to approach this is by researching the market and the target customers or clients of the business you are interested in. This will give some insight into where people are spending their money and whether or not your business idea will fit into their needs.

It is important that new business owners remember that there are a lot of speed bumps on the road to success in a tough economy including getting investors. It is difficult to find the capital to get a new business started today with lenders being especially cautious about where their money is being spent. This includes new business ventures. They want to see that this business is going to be successful in a time when people are not spending money. You will have to work hard to convince them and this means you need to prepare accurate and concise business models and business plans.

Taking time to do the due diligence will pay for itself in the long run. It will not only allow you the leverage you may need to get financing to start your business, but it will give you the business information you need to make a success of your endeavor. Forecasting the future of your business is important to making it all work and directing your efforts in the right ways.

Know Your Target Market Spending Habits

Small business is suffering much like the rest of the world when it comes to the economy. This means that there are measures that need to be taken to make ends meet and keep the business up and running. You will need to be sure that your overhead is reduced as much as possible and that there is as little extra spending going on as possible in the business. This is the first step in making sure you are containing the money in the business and not spending more than you may be taking in. Finding your target market and understanding how they are functioning in these difficult times is also a great way to get the leg up on the economic difficulties ahead.

You want to be sure that you understand how your customers are spending their money in general. This will help you to plan your marketing strategies to target your customers playing up to their needs and spending habits. This is vital to keeping afloat in a very difficult time. You will need to change your supply to meet the demand of your customers if you have any hope of making it through the tough times without completely depleting any financial security you may have set aside.

When working on your marketing strategies remember that you want to spend as little money as possible in your venture for obtaining new customers. You can be sure that the customers do not have the money to spend like they used to and are going to be very careful about where they spend their money. This is why it is vital that your products or services be something that they need and want. Understanding your customers spending habits will give you the advantage over your competitors and make your customers happy with your desire to meet their needs.

The state of the economy has started a new trend in new business. Surprisingly many are attempting to begin new businesses during these times.

Starting a Business in a Tough Economy

Starting a business during a difficult economy may seem like an impossible endeavor. This having been said there are a number of ways to go about the process. You certainly will need to be more prepared and have a bit of careful planning when dealing with preparing your business for success. This means that you need to have clear vision and understand what the market is like for the business model you creating. In addition to having a clear vision for your business, understanding the finances for the business before you jump in is a good idea.

You may need to do some searching if you are looking for a small business loan in the current economy for a number of reasons. The obvious reason is that lenders are not lending as readily as they once were. In addition to that you will find that there are many people starting their own business. This is likely driven from the lack of employment in the United States as well as the overwhelming need of the public to feel in control of their financial future. Many people are deciding to take control of their income by opening a business of their own figuring if they are going to have hard times financially they may as well be in the driver’s seat.

When searching for your loan to start your business it is a good idea to have a really well put together business plan. This business plan could mean the difference between getting the funds you need and missing out over another entrepreneur. You will easily be able to beat the competition if your information is solid and your plan is realistic. Showing that you are thinking ahead is vital to getting the confidence of lenders and getting the money that you need to get started.
